Ellisville could be described as being historically and romantically old. The
date of the town's establishment seems to be 1817. In 1840, John F. H.
Claiborne wrote that "the men of Ellisville were robust, active, long lived,
the women beautiful, and the children lively as crickets and ruddy as rose
buds."
Ellisville is located in Jones County, and boasts a total
population of over 6,000. We are also home to Jones County Junior College.

Located in Jones County, Ellisville is one of two county seats. The Court House
is a historic building located in the center of town.Across the street from the
Court House is Ellisville's City Hall which houses the Mayor's office, library,
and the city business offices.
